Privacy Policy

When you install SmartMatch on your Shopify store, we collect:

• Store information — your Shopify store domain, access tokens, and plan details required to operate the app.

• Product data — product titles, descriptions, tags, images, and metadata from your catalog, used to generate AI embeddings for matching.

• Customer quiz responses — preference answers submitted by your shoppers through recommendation forms. These are used solely to generate product matches and are never sold or shared.

• Analytics events — anonymized click, view, and conversion data to help you measure recommendation performance.

• Usage data — app feature usage patterns to help us improve the product.

We use the information collected to:

• Provide, operate, and improve the SmartMatch service.

• Generate AI vector embeddings to power personalized product recommendations.

• Display analytics and performance reports within your dashboard.

• Send transactional emails related to billing, downtime, or important updates.

• Comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell, rent, or share your data or your customers' data with third parties for advertising purposes.

All data is stored in secure, encrypted databases hosted on Supabase (PostgreSQL). Product embeddings are stored using pgvector. We apply:

• AES-256 encryption at rest

• TLS 1.3 encryption in transit

• Role-based access controls

• Regular security audits

Customer quiz responses are stored anonymously and cannot be linked back to individual Shopify customers unless you explicitly request it.

We use the following third-party services to operate SmartMatch:

• OpenAI — to generate vector embeddings from your product catalog. Product data (titles, descriptions) is sent to OpenAI's API. See OpenAI's privacy policy at openai.com/privacy.

• Supabase — for database hosting and authentication.

• Shopify — as our platform partner. We comply with Shopify's Partner Program Agreement and API Terms of Service.

We do not use third-party advertising or tracking pixels.

We retain your data for as long as your app subscription is active. Upon uninstallation:

• Store access tokens are immediately revoked and deleted.

• Product embeddings and form responses are deleted within 30 days.

• You may request immediate deletion by contacting us at the email below.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.

• Correct inaccurate data.

• Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten").

• Object to or restrict certain processing.

• Data portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format.

As a Shopify merchant using this app, you are responsible for:

• Informing your customers that their quiz responses are used to generate product recommendations.

• Including appropriate disclosures in your own store's Privacy Policy.

• Complying with applicable privacy laws (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) in your jurisdiction.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
